Hi everyone. My name is Lee and I live in northern Illinois.

To be honest, I know extremely little about rocket stoves. But, I'm learning! By joining this forum, I hope to learn even more. I don't plan on personally building one – I will leave that to my husband. My role will be more as the support team.

So please show patience if I come up with some newbie questions......

Thank you, everyone, for the welcome.  Since I signed up for this forum, I did some research. I now understand what a rocket stove is and the advantages. Wonder if I can make a small – and safe – one to heat the greenhouse? If I come up with something, I promise to share.  Very Happy

I have been waiting for someone to build a rocket stove for a greenhouse. Can't wait to see your results.

Yep. Hence the reason for my Maureen O'Hara avatar for his John Wayne's.  ;)

After a little more coffee, I will watch the videos.  study  In the meantime, here is one of my newbie questions....if not insulated, does the outside of the heat exchanger get hot? Say, hot enough to heat water 10 degrees? I was wondering if it can be wrapped with a water-filled closed loop system to transfer the heat.

you cant have a closed loop system it has to be an open air tank fed system otherwise theres a risk with closed loop system if the water system gets to hot they do explode with scalding water

please take a look here as ive only just posted this info up

gadily - that is a very good point. Ok, nix that idea. The videos gave me a lot of information. Thanks.

Snow coming in so it should be a good day to hit the design table.

Any Fan of the Duke would know that !  :P  I just wanted to add that you might have better luck with asking your RS related  Idea :?:, In the Ideas and Research area of the Forum.

Sometimes a thread topic may drift and a good question and or idea may get missed. There are a number of qualified members who are very busy outside the Forum, so they may not have time to read every topic post, if a question is in the wrong area.

I am still a newbie and it took me a little while to learn how to navigate around the Forum. Its all Good!  cheers
