Hello all i guess for this forum i am a wood stove veteran using a home made (old fashion) wood stove for more then 20 years
i have been following the "rocket stove" world for a few years (and when i watched what was on you tube back then those freely giving to the world what they were doing did not do a very good job) i am so glad to have a forum for the future of wood stoves
i envision a time not in the so distant future when (not sure how to say this) after the rocket stove revolution that there will be a ban on old fashion wood stove like i am using now
i almost feel guilty (if and when) i ever put in a rocket stove that no one around me will be able to use the old ones that i helped them get
i think there is a need for rocket designs using old wood stoves as a base
ok enough ranting i hope by this 2014 winter to have a working rocket stove to replace my (i cannot believe i am saying this) crude old dinosaur
as long as there is light you can fix

i am in an israeli desert (and even lit my stove last night when it dipped below 4`C)
i am from Los Angeles so i was not used to cold but after the biggest snow storm in israel in 50 years (1991) i came up with the idea to build one. it took my a few years
getting wood is still a problem. SOO a Rocket design looks like the way to go. BUT i am trying to get it to last 24+ hours as i cannot fiddle with it on the Shabbath. or to be able to switch from wood to oil for the 24+ hours burns

Welcome, colder temps more than likely will be the norm in the future and not the reverse.

Shalom,
Do you have a plan or idea what to make or design for a unit?
Maybe find an old large truck and chop the frame rails up and MFG the parts for one from that??
I wonder of the IDF has old tanks you can gather some plate materials from??
Just a thought.

well in truth i am waiting for those with MUCH MORE hands on skills or computer models to lay the ground work for me/us LIKE
MrTeslonian
and
tryin2lhard
you the old saying "WOOD HEAT HEATS YOU 3x TIMES AS MUCH" well for me that might be 4x as i do not own a car so even SHLEPPING the wood home is a challenge let alone cutting the trees down
but after 20+ years of wood heat there is no going back
BTW if you are near Metzad tonight come celebrate with me as i make a annual SHEUDA HODAYIA for surviving the tractor terror attack on R. Yaffo 6 years ago tonight

Yes I recall the tractor incident, both of them, incident yet was not in country then. Were you part of it on Yaffo St??
Friendly Gaza send a grad to my location in Kislev 1 5773, Iron dome hit it yet was very low and KO'ed me. Most No idea how loud that is or feels like... I keep shrapnel with me as a sobering reminder of the event. Praise YHVH for keeping me.
Anyway, It seems your entire project needs assistance in acquiring materials. The design of a medium size stove unit may work or is your place bigger than 80sqm? I like his last project of the Dyno V rocket stove small and efficient. My project is a retrofit mod looks like it will be an easy task to do. When I have the time I will post pictures of what I plan to do.

i found most of my time was spent deciding what to build and its output of heat before i got hands on experience and even then i learnt as i built it even made mistakes and changed them after first burns
first off for me was build gas bottle rocket as a just incase then i liked 2 versions of rocket stove turbo rocket and the dyno v both being transportable
i have another gas bottle to build as well as a dyno v but ive gained enough interest to build a downdraft system
