info on wood gasifier

as i dont know how or what a wood gasifier is i thought this would would help to explain it

Wood gas isn't complicated... pass wood smoke through a red/white hot bed of coals in a very limited oxygen environment... this will make wood gas, which is mostly hydrogen, carbon monoxide, and some methane... there is nitrogen and some co2 and water vapour as well.

I wouldn't recommend building a fema unit... they are known to make tars and i have proven this to myself in my first build. There are much better units that can be built with not much more work. And, no matter what anyone says, you can not filter tar easily.

Just my 2 cents... and yes, I have built numerous gasifiers.

It is a good idea to post these types of threads though. I only became aware of gasifiers last Fall. I know there are many people who haven't heard of them even though they have been around forever.

I am still trying to grasp the science.

i know gas can be bad in any form that is used

man, I got off lucky with only a suntan on my face when my billowed flame.
same with the misses.

My sytem has had many puffs... If you plan for it in the design, you can make these systems very safe...

mind you, never look directly into the hopper of a running gasser, or breath any of the smoke that comes out of it.

and always run negative pressure. man... feel bad for this guy.
