Wood stove newb here, but know my way around a welder and a grinder. My wife and I just bought our first house, and there is a huge fireplace in the unfinished basement. When I was a young lad, dad had a woodstove in the basement and kept the thing choochin' all day and night. So.. following in his footsteps I planned to do the same, but being an engineer I always try and do things different because I can. I'm a youtuber, and came across ppotty's channel and instantly sold to his rocket stove. I plan on building one in the near future. I have the wife on board, just need to find materials.
Here is what I'm afraid of:
1. Running the stove pipe up the chimney will lose to much heat for the trouble. I don't have room to run piping in the room like ppotty1 has in his shop.
2. The burn box won't be big enough to hold enough wood to burn for several hours during night time.
3. The heat will cause a steel build rocket stove to deteriorate quickly.
4. I will screw up a dimension or something and it won't draft.
I'm excited to join, hope this wasn't to long of a post.
Thanks,
Dave
