No Weld Gasifier Design - aka. "Constance"

Many people would like to try building a wood gas system but can't weld. Here is one option for getting around the problem. Affectionately dubbed "Constance", this machine is built from just pipe fittings with a sheet metal grate cut with tin snips.

i just got an idea just for the job of that as well just might change some peoples attitude to being none wood usage as well

ive also got some 3 x 5mm steel pipe 3 1/2" x 5mm steel pipe some 216 stainless steel 1 1/2 tube 2 metre length some 3 1/2" box sectin any ideas on what i could build with this stuff as wouldnt mind a gassifier for a generator but ours run on 240 volts not 110v

on another note tritowns ive got to ask as i havent seen much input on this subjects

like this one above at 3hp possible is there any stats on these systems that have calculations in stats

3hp , 5hp, can run a generator, can run heavy generator, what sort of generator would be needed ive also noted that you quoted on a gas system not diesel as much harder

also depending on size of equipment pipes and setup is there any stats on burn times per wood loading

a 3hp would do me but a 5hp would be better for a cultivator
also finding a generator for welding and also building a gasifier to run the generator

I've always used 1Kw = 2 HP = 4lbs of wood per hour.

You build your gasifier based on size of engine you are going to use (displacement) and at what RPM (average) it will spend most of it's time at... so for a truck say... how big the engine at hwy speed... 2200rpm say.

I have posted a bunch of stuff under gasser math.

Stephen has built a smilar system that he pushes air into using a 33 watt aquarium pump... he has used to to boil water and the like... 33 watts is very easy to do using solar.



a weld together victoria would fit the bill on most peoples uses up to 12 or 13 HP. My system is based on that system, with my improvements.

I have a 6500 watt generator..

as part of my greenhouse heater, I tested some gas flare from it, i was able to get the gen to "pop" on it... but not sustain the volume.  I am going to build a separate gasifier now for powering my farm.  2000 continuous max will easily do me.  1 kw most of the time. So.. steady 1 kw is 96 lbs / wood  a day... cakewalk!
