The SilverFire can easily be built on the DIY cheap and there are instructions on youtube for many rockets and gasifiers.
My favorite medium is clay mass. I love how it retains heat. I have been thinking of ways to convert my little portable grill into smokers, similar to what they are doing with the Colemans but using more mass. I will post those down the road.
for those that dont think that these have a rightful place here you may find that these systems actually work by rocket burner style old fashioned cooking heating way
old fashioned rayburn wood cooker
History: The first 'British' built central-heating cooker was the Rayburn Supreme, later Nouvelle, then 355 SF, now you own a derivative of same as 355 SFW. The 55 refers to Btus/hr and is utterly unrealistic on wood, unless you have a PhD in stoking and five-year-old Beech. Think nearer 35 000 (just over 10 KW/h) if you are burning hot on logs and the boiler damper (front chrome lever) is vertical - ie switched to boiler.
It took us a year or so to get used to it, to know which wood to use to make nice roasts and which wood to make sponges
aga wood cooker this is an old one
esse wood cooker
