Here is a video that Jeff Crutchfield put up on a few tools he uses, I really like the ready welder and plan on getting one, it is the ultimate in portable welding.

I am wanting to purchase and Infrared Temp Gun and was wondering if those who have them, can share their thoughts on the types they have and use? I know the old saying goes, You get what you pay for. I personally would like to have a $300.00 spot on temp gun, But I just cant get myself to do it over a few degrees in temp. and the fact I wouldn't be using it all the time.

dkwelder,

Got mine off of eBay - paid about £18 (delivered) and it seems to do the job. I can't tell you how accurate it is however, when the numbers are in the 00's of deg C, I do know that the metal burns the skin when you touch it by accident  . Not sure if that helps if honest.

Have a good one.

Hello Bezman, I been doing a little homework on trying to find a temp gun that I will be happy with. I am going to purchase the Raytek MT6U, I have seen them start out at $62.00 and go up from there. -20 to 932 F. I am thinking this should be perfect for checking my temps on my new RS build.
If you wanted to check how accurate your temp gun is ? Mild steel will starts to turn a pretty blue in color when heated to 572 F. 5-10 either direction I am thinking is Accurate enough for checking temps on a RS. Thanks for your input.

If you are looking for a laser focusing IR temperature gun get yourself the Android/Apple app Wish Most of the stuff comes from china but I bought my IR thermometer gun from them a couple of years ago and it's pretty asccurate. (A quick way to test accuracy id to point it st a pot of boiling water then point it at a block of ice.) but I got mine for about 10 bucks including the shipping cost.
