I think you can take a normal woodstove, add the RS under it, with only cutting bottom plate off, make a bypass for when the door gets opened.

You could do all this welding, and replace bottom plate,
And in sense, make a downdraft stove very easily out of one.

Modified wood stove section. ?

thinking mine would benefit from Air diffusers next to my RS heater (riser in box) to burn fumes right away.

Most can get a stove , for free, or under 400. at times. it saves hours with not having to build door flue ect.

however im going to be honest i think that those systems can also benefit from a down tube and an up tube as well as it would modify them into a thermal mass rocket burner type using only the gas that escapes up over the plate as i see from those vids another injection of super heated air at this point could have flames firing down the tube
that would be called third burn technology as i havent seen it done was going to try a build with it doing as quoted

from my reading all the systems are within the 4 1/2 hr burns depending on the wood being used the videos quote they get longer due to the ashes still burning within there systems so clock around 8hr - 12hr depending on wood usage

i presume that you just used the top for the flue

what im asking is did you create something that would create that burner into a bell effect just by adding some pipe on back of it so it goes down first then up into the chimney stack

i was wondering if the wood burners could be changed enough like my drawing on pallet burner post just by adding a little bit of tubing onto the end of it

I agree there is much room for improvement with conventional stoves.

things like a standardised efficiency test would put a lot of bad stoves in their place!!

actually that's an idea, should we come up with a standard test?
but that would be another thred

Thanks guys! This gives me some really good ideas on some older stoves that I have. It will be great fun modifying them to become more efficient and add a rocket stove twist to them.

It is all how you look at stoves. Maybe I am a little different. I have always seen shapes. You can turn any shape into a stove.

The downside to rockets is the vortex. Gotta prep and plan for the vortex.
